Lewis County Youth Theater Camp · Summer 2026

Lowville, New York — May 2026

The Youth of Lewis County (YOLC) is proud to announce a free Renaissance Theater Camp for young people ages 12 to 17 this summer. Running from July 6 through August 13, 2026, at the Lowville Theater, the camp will culminate in a live performance debut at the Lewis County Renaissance Faire on September 12th and 13th — an event that drew over 1,300 attendees last year.

The Curriculum

What You Will Learn

Campers journey through six immersive modules, each designed to build confidence, creativity, and performance skills rooted in Renaissance theater traditions.

Character Quest

Pick your archetype. Build your hero.

Campers create original Renaissance characters with unique backstories, motivations, and personalities that they will develop and perform throughout the program.

Persona Playhouse

Herbalists, alchemists, fae-touched wanderers — get weird.

Explore unconventional character archetypes and learn the art of staying in character through improvisation and scene work.

Heraldry Hall

Design your coat of arms. Get your player card.

Dive into the visual language of heraldry and create personal crests that represent your character’s identity and values.

Garb & Gear

Build your costume from thrifted finds.

Through hands-on costuming workshops, campers learn to transform everyday materials into authentic-looking Renaissance garb on a budget.

Players’ Roundtable

Buskers, bards, & barbs. Pick your style.

Explore Renaissance performance traditions — from street performance and storytelling to witty repartee and audience engagement.

Debut at the Faire

Perform in character. Faire tickets included.

The grand finale — campers take everything they’ve built and bring it to life on stage at the Lewis County Renaissance Faire in front of over 1,300 attendees.
