About the Faire

September 12th and 13th, 2026 at the Lewis County Fairgrounds, 5485 Bostwick St, Lowville, NY 13367. Gates open at 10:00 AM and the faire closes at 5:00 PM on both days.

Yes, and it is free. Primary guest parking is beside the Main Gate with secondary parking further down the same side, and attendants are there to guide you in. Handicap parking for guests and vendors is by the DeWitt Gate.

The faire runs rain or shine, so dress for the weather. There is overhead cover on the Village Green for bad weather, and the indoor merchants and several activities are under a roof either way.

We strive to be accessible for everyone. There is handicap parking by the DeWitt Gate, the fairgrounds have wheelchair-accessible areas, and volunteers are glad to help. Get in touch beforehand if you have specific needs.

Both are on the Map & Schedule page of this site, where you can look at them or download them to print. Paper copies are handed out at the gate.

$25 for anyone 13 and over and $15 for ages 6 to 12 for a single day. Children under 5 are free. A weekend ticket is $35 for adults and $25 for ages 6 to 12.

Yes. A five-pack of any-age single-day passes is $90, and a five-pack of any-age weekend passes is $130.

Yes, but only at single-day pricing — two-day pricing is not available at the door. Buying online in advance saves time and gets you the weekend rate.

Yes. A ticket works for either day, and there is no way to pick a day when you buy it — just come along on the day that suits you.

No, there are no senior or military discounts.

We charge less than the average Renaissance faire in the area, and your ticket covers most of the experience apart from a couple of add-ons. It is genuinely good value, and it all goes to Youth of Lewis County.

Admission covers all the live shows and performances, the merchant marketplace, knightly combat and entry to the costume contest.

Two: the Dungeon Escape Room and the tomato throwing. The horse rides are free, and everything else your ticket covers.

Yes. Cash and card are both taken at the gate, and tickets are sold both online and at the gate.

No — show it on your phone or bring a printout, whichever you prefer.

Online tickets can take a few minutes to come through, and they sometimes land in spam, so check there first. If it still hasn't appeared, ask our assistant on the Ask the Faire page and it will tell you exactly what to send and where.

No, tickets are non-refundable. A ticket does work on either day, so if something comes up on the Saturday you can use it on the Sunday instead.

Yes — the five-packs. $90 for five single-day passes, $130 for five weekend passes, any age. They're only sold online, not at the gate.

Live music, horse shows, horseback riding, a petting zoo, the artisans market, tomato throwing, a whip show, may pole dancing, a parade, the Dungeon Escape Room and plenty more. Falconers, duellists, mercenaries and the St. Lawrence Privateers roam the grounds throughout the day.

Yes, a few things. The horse show and horse rides are Saturday only. The petting zoo is Sunday only. The Youth Theater Camp improv debut is Sunday at 4:00 and Femme Celtique's free show is Sunday at 4:30.

The Grand Parade is at noon on both days, with all the performers taking part.

Yes. It is built for all ages, with a castle playground, a bounce house, the knighting of the youth at the playground, hobby horse races for children and adults, and plenty more for kids.

Yes. There are food trucks in the Market District and ice cream over in the Fields of Honor, alongside the vendors.

Yes. Vendor booths line the Village Green and there are indoor merchants in the Market District, offering handmade goods, costumes, jewellery and more.

Many vendors take cards, and there is an ATM on site. Some smaller sellers are cash only, so it is worth having a little with you.

There are three rooms — easy, medium and hard. There's no minimum age; which room suits a child depends on the difficulty. Buy online with your faire tickets, or just walk up and buy at the rooms on the day. It's $10 for a single game, or $40 for a group of five.

They're free. Burnt Feather Farms run them for us over in the Fields of Honor — Saturday only.

Yes — no age limit, no extra charge, and the arrows are silicone-tipped.

No age limit, and there's hand sanitiser on hand. Remember the petting zoo is Sunday only.

The Swashbuckling Mercenaries put 'criminals' in the stocks and you pelt them. There's a charge, and the tomatoes aren't real — they're soft fabric ones, and you keep yours as a souvenir.

Yes, the pie eating, root beer chugging, archery and costume contests are all open to anyone. Sign up at the Information Booth — spaces are limited, so come early.

The petting zoo is the one they remember — that's Sunday only. The castle playground and the bounce house are open both days.

No. The Dance of Death and Dr. J.R.'s sideshow are theatrical rather than scary.

Yes — some of the vendors sell garb and weapons, so you can arrive in jeans and leave in costume.

That's up to each vendor — some take cards, some are cash only. There's an ATM on site.

Tell the food truck what you need and they'll talk you through what they can do.

Yes, and they appreciate it.

No outside food or drink, with one exception: bring water. There is no free drinking water on site, so bring a bottle or buy from one of the vendors.

There is plenty of seating, so you don't need to bring a chair — camp chairs aren't permitted. A blanket to sit on is absolutely fine.

Yes. You can come and go the same day on the same ticket.

The grounds are a mix of grass, gravel and paved, and are very much wheelchair accessible. Disability parking is at the DeWitt entrance, for vehicles displaying a handicap sticker.

Yes please — take photos and share them online, we love seeing them. Drones are not allowed.

Doors open at 10:00 AM and not a minute before, so there's no advantage to turning up early. Parking is essentially unlimited.

Most make a day of it. There's enough on across the two days that plenty of people come back for the second.

Come prepared for sun — hat and sunscreen. If it gets too hot, or the weather turns, there's indoor seating to retreat to, and overhead cover on the Village Green.

Yes, so showing your ticket on your phone at the gate is no trouble.

Costumes are encouraged but never required. Dress up in your best medieval or Renaissance finery if you like it, and modern comfortable clothing is perfectly fine too. Bear in mind the faire runs rain or shine.

Staff wear a coloured ribbon at the waist: red for performers, blue for volunteers, who know most things, and yellow for team leads, for anything specific. Some performers wear a volunteer ribbon too.

There are bathrooms in the Market District and in the Fields of Honor. Both are marked on the map.

Service animals only, please. Much as we love animals, other pets are not allowed.

No. No alcohol is served or permitted at the faire.

Go straight to the Information Booth in the Market District. That is where lost children are brought and reported, and the staff there can get word out across the grounds.

Ask at the Information Booth and they will alert the director, who will sort somewhere out for you.

Dress up as much as you like — but anything offensive or too revealing isn't on, and anyone wearing it may be asked to change or to leave.

The faire is a fundraiser for Youth of Lewis County, a local nonprofit. It is entirely volunteer-run and nobody makes a dime from it — the only people paid are contracted performers.
